“The Supreme Public Prosecutor, Zagorka Dolovac, is ready to meet with student representatives at any time and present all the responses to the students’ demands along with detailed explanations, thereby fully accommodating the requests of the students in our country,” reads the statement from the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office, reported Tanjug.
It said that the Supreme Public Prosecutor and the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office are fully prepared to immediately receive the student delegation and directly review all the demands together with them, as well as to provide access to all available documents related to the November 1 collapse of a canopy at the recently renovated Novi Sad train station, which killed 15 people.
The statement further adds that during the proposed meeting, students would be informed about all legal proceedings against those who attacked students or professors during the student protests, and the fact that no student or professor related to participation in the protests is currently in custody or detention.
“Additionally, it would be explained how all cases handled by the public prosecutor’s offices would be reviewed and how criminal proceedings will be terminated in the absence of evidence,” the statement said.
On Wednesday, December 25, students delivered a letter in 1,000 copies to Prosecutor Dolovac during a protest outside her office. While Dolovac immediately invited them for talks, student representatives said they would communicate their availability for the meeting at a later time.
