Suspects indicted for murder of 2 year old girl

Prosecutors in the eastern Serbian city of Zajecar indicted two men for the murder of a two-year-old girl which led to the first ever Amber Alert in the country.
Danka Ilic went missing on March 26, 2024 while playing on the grounds of her family’s country house outside the city of Bor. Two men were arrested and interrogated about her disappearance. The two suspects, Dejan Dragijevic and Srdjan Jankovic, allegedly confessed to hitting the girl with their car and then disposing of the body which has not been found. The brother of one of the suspects Dalibor Dragijevic was also arrested on suspicion of complicity and died in police custody amid claims of torture. An international search was also launched following alleged sightings of the girl which were not prove true.
The Public Prosecution in Zajecar indicte Dragijevic and Jankovic for the murder and complicity in the murder. Dragijevic’s father Radoslav was also indicted for failing to report the crime. Both of the main suspects are in detention with the prosecution demanding they remain there.
