The general secretary of the Social Democratic Party (SDS) and Serbian power company (EPS) union activist Dragoslav Ljubicic was arrested on Wednesday evening, said SDS leader Boris Tadic.

“During the day he got a phone call and was told that someone from BIA was calling and that he should report to the police station. After that call he went to the police and filed a complaint against unknown persons. Immediately after that, six plainclothes agents arrested him on a basketball court while he was playing basketball. Vucic is turning the security services and police into party and personal phalanxes that arrest regime opponents, following the example of the worst dictatorships in world history,” Tadic wrote in a post on X.
Following a court order for a temporary measure from Belgrade’s First Basic Court, the Serbian power company (EPS) told dismissed worker Dragoslav Ljubicic to return to work in March, but did not give him back his original job.
EPS had fired Ljubicic, a dispatcher at the Nikola Tesla thermal power plant, on February 10. When he returned, the company placed him in a lower-paying position.
