Tax Police denies raiding D Express offices
The Tax Police told N1 on Friday that its inspectors did not raid the D Express company with the police but started an investigation.
“Tax Police inspectors did not raid the D Express offices but, in cooperation with Internal Affairs Ministry (MUP) personnel, started a review of its business,” the Tax Police said in a written reply to N1 commenting Thursday night’s police raid on the D Express offices. The delivery company is part of United Group along with N1 and Nova S.
It added that the investigation was started under orders from the prosecution and in line with the law.
The Tax Police did not say who ordered the raid.
The Tomanovic law office said that the reply “does not make the actions of the police and Tax Police legal”. It said that the prosecution has to say whether it ordered the police to raid the offices at night and seize documents while detaining staff for 7 hours and seal the offices.
