Teenager killed, 8 others injured in traffic accident outside Novi Sad

A teenager was killed and 7 children and an adult injured when the van they were traveling in broke through a security fence and overturned on the Novi Sad – Belgrade highway early on Wednesday morning, the Serbian state TV (RTS) reported.

It said that the 8 children aged 13-16 are members of the Partizan Judo Club returning from a competition in Azerbaijan. A police press release said that the tragedy took place at 3:47 am and added that the driver was not driving under the influence. The police said the injured were taken to the Vojvodina Clinical Center in Novi Sad.

An N1 reporter said that 2 of the children were in intensive care following treatment, that one of them was transferred to Belgrade with spinal injuries and that the rest were hospitalized for observation after treatment.
