Tepic: Actis to use Telekom loan to develop 5G network, plus interest, rent
Telekom Srbija’s infrastructure is no longer owned by the state, but by the privately-owned Actis, deputy leader of the opposition Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP) Marinika Tepic said in a post on the X social media platform.
Tepic asked why the government is not bragging about this sale of state resources, and then provided the answers.
“Because Actis will now build a 5G network with a 70 million euro loan from Telekom, but Telekom will continue to pay interest. On top of all that, Telekom will also pay Actis rent for using the network - through (its) towers that it has now sold to Aktis. Only someone in dire straits sells basic assets for their basic activity, because they have already eaten up everything else through corruption, borrowing and harmful acquisitions,” cautioned Tepic.
Telekom Srbija has sold its telecom towers and passive infrastructure business that was managed by the Sky Towers Infrastructure company.
The new owner of Sky Towers Infrastructure is Actis Luna Telecom Tower d.o.o. Beograd, which is owned by the Luxembourg-based ACTIS EU GP S.A R.L.
The purchase price is most likely in the vicinity of 420.4 million euros, which is the lien benefiting Telekom.
