When asked about the sinking of the Freestyler raft, the Mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Sapic, said, during a visit to the first-born baby in 2023, that he was not at the scene, but that he had heard "the raft received two to three times more people than the allowed number". 

He said that all the circumstances will be investigated, and announced a fight against illegal rafts.

The famous Belgrade raft Freestyler sank halfway through on New Year’s Eve. The raft was evacuated.
