Three days of mourning in Paracin after death of woman injured in Novi Sad tragedy

“Paracin Municipal Council head Vladimir Milicevic has declared three days of mourning from November 19-21 across the municipality in honor of the November 1, 2024 tragic event in Novi Sad, when fifteen people lost their lives in the canopy roof collapse at the Novi Sad train station, including our fellow citizen, Anja Radonjic,” said the press release.

The tragedy occurred on November 1, when a concrete canopy roof collapsed at the recently renovated Novi Sad main train station, killing 15 people. This incident, along with the controversies surrounding the station’s reconstruction project, has sparked widespread public outrage, protests, and unrest outside the City Hall, leading to several arrests of citizens and activists. The public is calling for accountability, and so far, the only resignation has come from Goran Vesic, the Minister of Construction.
