Tirana and Pristina agree on abolishing temporary residence permit

Kosovo’s Government adopted in principle an agreement with the Albanian Ministerial Council to abolish temporary residence permit allowing the two countries’ citizens to reside in either state for up to five years.

The decision was in the mutual interest of the two countries, according to Blerim Gashani, Kosovo’s Deputy Interior Minister.
He added the abolishment covered family reunion, pre-university and higher education, scientific research, humanitarian causes, victims of trafficking, migrants and foreigners.
Kosovo’s Government also adopted the initiative for changes in the agreement with Albania on opening a joint border crossing and regulating the local cross-border traffic.
