Five people were injured during a police intervention on Monday at the Novi Sad University Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, including a girl who rode her bicycle to Strasbourg.

The girl identified as Katarina was one of just 9 girls riding from Novi Sad to Strasbourg to deliver a letter to the European Parliament and Council of Europe in a group of 80 students and their supporters several weeks earlier. She was hit with a baton by one of the police troopers in riot gear trying to clear protesting students away from the faculty. The police were called in by Dean Patrik Drida.

Katarina’s fellow agriculture school students posted a video on X showing the moment she was struck on the head. She was hospitalized and kept overnight for observation.

Three women and two men were hospitalized with injuries sustained when the police intervened.
