Tourist numbers rise

It said that there were 455,189 tourists in the country in May, a rise of 16.9 percent with 1.2 million overnight stays or 14 percent more than a year earlier.

The number of foreign tourists rose by 30.2 percent to 236,772 with 218,417 domestic tourists or 5.2 percent more. Loal tourists accounted for 638,619 overnight stays while foreign tourists registered 596,781 overnight stays, a rise of 7 percent and 23.1 percent respectively.

The largest single group of foreign tourists were Russians, followed by tourists from Turkey and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
