The tent camp was set up last week by a group claiming to be university students who want the protests to end and classes to resume. They have been joined by older people, including war veterans of a notorious Serbian State Security Service paramilitary unit in red berets. An N1 reporter contacted a recruiter for the camp and was offered money to join in.

The N1 crew said there were dozens of tractors parked around the camp. The tractors were brought in overnight.

Social media reports over the past few days said that local authorities were organizing the transport of tractors owned by farmers who support the Serbian regime to Belgrade prior to Saturday’s mass protest in the Serbian capital.

The tractors were strategically deployed on the sidewalk, forcing passersby to walk in mud.

The N1 crew walked into the camp to ask about the tractors but got no reply from anyone.

The Students 2.0 group that started the camp met with President Aleksandar Vucic on Thursday evening and were asked to leave the camp on Saturday. The alleged students said they need time to make that decision.
