Transparency Serbia said on Thursday that the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) invested four million Euro in its TV campaign for the April 3 elections, or three times as much as all the other parties and coalitions combined.

The organization said the situation is similar in terms of other media and advertising outlets.

Transparency Serbia said that precise information on the money spent on the campaign is not forthcoming despite the newly introduced obligation to file preliminary reports at least a week before the end of campaigning. “We don’t know if the reports have not been filed or have just not been published by the Anti-corruption Agency,” it said.

“Paid advertising, appearances mostly as state president in promotional activities allowed presidential candidate Aleksandar Vucic to achieve complete media domination,” it added.

The organization said that Vucic had 15 promotional activities, 18 other activities with similar effect, four live public addresses, 16 appearances or interviews on TV stations by March 30. “That means that Vucic’s media presence remains untarnished in the period that he refrained from promotional activities after proclaiming an end to campaigning by officials,” the press release said.

It added that Vucic was dominant in the press as well.
