Tsetsi: Repression incompatible with Serbia’s EU path

European Greens co-chair Vula Tsetsi MEP called the European Union to clearly state that the repression in Serbia is incompatible to the country’s accession to the Union.

“The EU must make clear that repression and rights violations are incompatible with Serbia's EU path,” Tsetsi said in an X post.
“We continue to condemn police brutality and unlawful arrests in Serbia,” she wrote and expressed solidarity with Novi Sad University student Bogdan Jovicic who is on hunger strike at the start of his second month in detention.

Jovicic was arrested at a protest in Novi Sad and ordered into detention for 30 days at the Klisa prison. The detention was extended for another 30 days last week and he started a hunger strike. Pictures of him in leg irons at his father’s funeral were posted on social media.
