Two mine workers killed at coal processing facility

A third worker at the facility was lightly injured when the three men fell 6 meters into a coal separation bunker. The Mining and Energy Ministry confirmed that the two men died while cleaning out the separation bunker.

Miners and other workers at the Avramica mine have gone on strike several times, demanding better working conditions.
Mining and Energy Minister Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic came to the coal processing facility to express condolences to the families of the two men and talk to the third worker but did not answer reporters’ questions about the working conditions at the facility and the mine.

“Let’s wait for the report and show respect on this tragic day, look at everything and I’ll answer questions,” she said.
