Two tank cars carrying phosphoric acid derailed at the train station in the city of Zajecar on Friday morning, said the Serbia Cargo rail transport company.

The company said there was no leakage and that the accident did not pose any danger to people’s health or to the environment.

“The freight train was composed of 12 tank cars owned by the Eliksir company and was traveling from Prahovo to Sabac,” said Serbia Cargo.

A joint committee of the Serbian Railways Infrastructure company and Serbia Cargo is at the scene, which will determine the cause of the accident, said Serbia Cargo, Nova.rs reported.

Passenger and freight train traffic at the Zajecar station has not been interrupted, said the company.
