UNGA vote on Resolution on Srebrenica postponed for further consultations

The United Nations General Assembly was supposed to vote on the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica on May 2, but the vote was postponed, N1 Sarajevo learned on Thursday.
This information was confirmed for N1 Sarajevo by the BiH ambassador to the UN, Zlatko Lagumdzija.
“At this moment, we know that the session will not take place on May 2, because we are sending the text of the Resolution for revision in case UN member states have any other proposals to the text. The General Assembly will be held after May 6, depending on the schedule, which we will know on Tuesday,” Lagumdzija said.
“Bosnia’s UN mission also participated in this decision in order to let those who need time or those who are ready for a better understanding of the text of the Resolution conduct further consultations as a group of friends and sponsors of the Resolution,” the BiH Ambassador added.
In the end, Lagumdzija said that the vote was postponed so that the ambassadors of UN member states would have additional time for consultations with their governments.
