The plenary assembly of the University of Arts in Belgrade called on the Serbian citizens to boycott the Serbian state TV (RTS), noting that the 30-day deadline they set for the RTS to correct misleading statements about students and their demands has expired.
“Meeting this demand would be merely the first and overdue step on the long road the RTS must travel to return to the standards of objective reporting mandated by the law,” reads a statement by the protesting students from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts.
The students said the Serbian state broadcaster has expressed readiness to invite students to appear on RTS, presenting it as if they would be doing them a favor.
“It is not essential for students to appear on RTS. What is essential is that truth becomes not just a guest but the permanent host of every program and news bulletin,” the students said.
“We call for a boycott of the RTS because it is up to us to end their attempt to simulate reality. It is our responsibility to fight against their darkness,” said the University of Arts plenary assembly.
