Students in the southern Serbian city have been blockading their university schools, demanding accountability for the tragedy in Novi Sad.

A statement said that University of Nis reiterates its deep regret over the tragedy at Novi Sad Railway Station, adding that responsibility for the fall of the canopy roof which claimed 15 lives needs to be established.

The statement expressed opposition to every form of violence and called for equal treatment under the law for all citizens. “We are calling all students to continue achieving their academic rights and duties in a spirit of tolerance and mutual respect with the education process going ahead unhindered,” it said.
