Serbian Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunication Tatjana Matic said that, since the beginning of the year, the number of tourist arrivals increased by 48.1 percent compared to the same period last year while the foreign exchange inflow from tourism in the first six months of 2022 increased by 57.9 percent compared to the same period of 2021, said the Ministry of Tourism in a press release.

“The World Tourism Organization has recognized this record growth and this is actually a strong tailwind and a powerful incentive that encourages us to achieve even greater success,” said Matic.

The UNWTO report, published to mark World Tourism Day, said that promotion of tourism, open borders and the overall recovery of the industry following the pandemic contributed to the growth of tourism in Serbia despite high inflation.
