
The Serbian European Integration Ministry said on Friday that USAID would provide another 18 million Dollars in development aid grants.
A Ministry-USAID statement said that the fund will be used to upgrade public procurement procedures, improve access to justice for citizens, step up environmental protection and energy security, promote a stronger media environment, povide more economic opportunities for vulnerable groups, and secure greater economic competitiveness.
Minister Tanja Miscevic said the grants are part of continued cooperation with one of the country’s most important development partners.
US Ambassador Christopher Hill said the money is intended to help Serbia’s economy be more competitive and improve the operations of state institutions. He said USAID has invested $937 million so far to help Serbia cope with various challenges over the past 23 years.
