USAID is set to provide more than 30 million Dollars to assist democratic and economic development in Kosovo, US Ambassador Jeff Hovenier said on Friday.
The ambassador said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that the US Embassy is “committed to our continued partnership with the Kosovan people”. The agreement is for USAID to provide 34.7 million Dollars to the authorities in Pristina. It was signed by Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani and Acting USAID Mission Director Kerry Monaghan-Hogler.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hovenier said that funding “will support the United States’ strategic goals for Kosovo, including efforts to advance Kosovo’s integration into European and Euro-Atlantic institutions, efforts to promote economic growth and prosperity, and efforts to enhance good government and further support the development of democratic institutions”. A press release quoted him as saying that the US invested 2 billion Dollars in Kosovo to advance those goals.
Osmani said in an X post that the funding “will contribute to improved services for our citizens by enhancing accountability and effectiveness of institutions”. “In our efforts to ensure a more prosperous future for our citizens, the US continues to provide not only support, but a true partnership built on mutual trust and shared values,” she added.
Today, we signed the 5th amendment to the Development Objectives Grant Agreement with @USAIDKosovo.
