Varhelyi: Adoption of judicial laws essential for Serbia’s progress toward EU

European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi welcomed the adoption of a set of judiciary laws by the Serbian Parliament, describing it as a step that is essential for further progress in negotiations on Serbia’s accession to the European Union (EU).

“Independent judicial system is key. Welcome the adoption of the judicial reform package by the Serbian Parliament. This step is essential for further progress in the accession negotiations,” Varhelyi wrote posted on Twitter.

He added that the EU supports Serbia on its EU integration path.

The Serbian Parliament adopted Thursday a set of judiciary laws, including laws on judges and prosecutors, required to amend the Constitution.
