European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi said he had a productive meeting in Belgrade with representatives of Serbian opposition parties.
In a post on the X social media platform, Varhelyi said he discussed with the opposition representatives in the Serbian Parliament progress in Serbia’s accession to the European Union, media freedom, rule of law and elections, and the Growth Plan.
“Serbia is the biggest beneficiary of the Economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans (EIP) and Growth Plan. We bring important economic benefits linked to rule of law reforms,” said the European Union (EU) enlargement commissioner.
Vahrelyi, who on Wednesday ends his three-day visit to Serbia, met earlier in the day with Serbian Parliament speaker Ana Brnabic.
“I congratulated to Speaker of the Serbian Parliament, Ana Brnabic, for her new appointment and thanked her for facilitating cross -party dialogue in the electoral framework,” wrote the commissioner.
