The second European Opportunity Week opened Monday in Belgrade, with a message from European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi, emphasizing that the European Union (EU) is fully committed to supporting Serbia on its path to modernization, growth, and reform.
Addressing the participants via a video link, Varhelyi said the EU Opportunity Week “symbolizes the long-standing partnership between Serbia and the European Union,” showcasing the full spectrum of opportunities that the EU offers to Serbian citizens, businesses and institutions.
“The EU is not just Serbia’s most important political and economic partner and the biggest donor, but a dedicated partner, investing in Serbia’s growth, modernization and prosperity on its path to EU membership,” said the EU enlargement commissioner.
“I trust that Serbia will take full advantage of the current momentum in enlargement, making full use of the opportunities the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans presents,” said Varhelyi.
The second EU Opportunity Week is being held in Belgrade and Nis from September 23 to 27, and its main goal is to provide information to the public about support and EU funds.
