European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi welcomed Friday the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Serbia and the European Union (EU) on a strategic partnership in the field of sustainable raw materials, stating that Serbia is accelerating its European integration process.
“I welcome the signature of today’s EU-Serbia Memorandum of Understanding. Serbia, as an EU candidate country, is accelerating its EU integration through the Western Balkans Growth Plan. This project is a commitment to ensure that growth and jobs created for the benefit of Serbia,” Varhelyi wrote in a post on X.
The Memorandum of Understanding on a strategic partnership on sustainable raw materials, battery value chains and electric vehicles was signed Friday in Belgrade by Serbia’s Mining and Energy Minister Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic and European Commission Executive Vice-President Maros Sefcovic.
The signing ceremony took place during the Summit on critical raw materials in the presence of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
