Serbia’s outgoing Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic confirmed that the Serbian Government has authorized him to sign a memorandum giving away the site of the bombed General Staff in central Belgrade to American offshore companies.

Commenting in a Facebook post on Ecological Uprising representative Aleksandar “Cuta” Jovanovic’s statement that such negotiations are under way, Vesic said that, if a memorandum or some other document is signed, “the Government will notify the public,” and added that there is “no need for sensationalism where there is none.”

“Since 2000, all Serbian governments have tried to revitalize the General Staff site. If that were easy, I believe that some other government before us would have done it. But it’s not, so it fell to us to solve this problem as well, just like we build motorways and high-speed railways because others didn't know how to. We will proudly announce when and if we find a partner for this site. Because I guess we all agree that the ruins should not be there for another 25 years just so to make Jovanovic happy,” said Vesic.

Aleksandar “Cuta” Jovanovic of the Ecological Uprising told a media conference on Wednesday that, on behalf of the Serbian Government, Vesic signed a memorandum giving away the site of the former military headquarters in central Belgrade to American offshore companies Kushner Realty and Atlantic Incubation Partners LLC.
