Executive Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy, Henna Virkkunen added that there are no new requirements. “We are aware of these concerns raised by transport operators in the Western Balkans. And I think it's important to underline now that when we speak about this entry-exit system, it didn't introduce any new requirements when it comes to the length of these short stays in the Schengen area,” she told a news conference.

Virkkunen said that the problem is being addressed adding that there should be more flexibility without compromising security.

According to her, the same problems have been identified for truck drivers, artists on tour and athletes. “We are looking into that and we are now addressing the problem in this visa strategy,” she added.
