Vojvodina Bar Association demands urgent action over police brutality in Novi Sad

The AKV urged the authorities to swiftly investigate and prosecute every officer who used such force against students and other citizens, 021.rs reported.

The association also called on the police to refrain from any further unlawful conduct.

“One of the fundamental principles of a state governed by law is the rule of law and respect for human rights and freedoms. Under the Serbian Constitution, physical and psychological integrity is inviolable, no one may be subjected to torture, inhumane or degrading treatment or punishment,” the AKV said.

The Bar Association added that it will closely monitor how the institutions handle these cases and will take action to protect citizens from any future abuse of police powers.
