The Progressive Vojvodina Action organization said on Friday that more than 38,000 new voters have been registered in the city of Novi Sad since April 2022.
The political organization said that its claims are based on public information that it got access to thanks to the law on free access to public information.
It said that the huge increase in voter numbers in the biggest city of Serbia’s northern Vojvodina province allowed for the alleged election fraud at last December’s elections. Novi Sad is gearing up for city-wide elections in mid-2024.
Similar allegations have been made over the past few weeks by several opposition parties. The December 17 elections were marred by claims of fraud because of the large number of voters newly-registered in Belgrade and other cities, resulting in protests and calls for an international investigation.
