Despite the fact that many were against the Belgrade Waterfront and told lies about it, today this project is supported by 75 per cent of citizens, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said Thursday.

During his tour of the construction work on the Belgrade Waterfront Tower, Vucic said that Belgraders see how their city is changing and progressing.

Although there are currently 2,500 workers employed at the Tower construction site, the President says that “workers will have to be imported”.

“When I said this 2015-2016, everyone laughed, and today we have agreements with governments of other countries to import their workers and issue them permanent work permits,” said Vucic, adding that this is exactly why the Open Balkan initiative is important.

Vucic said he believes the people are happy and satisfied and that he is grateful to those who admit this and added that, when taking a stroll through the Belgrade Waterfront, he sometimes sees his political opponents enjoying themselves there.

“On the road to success there are always many obstacles that you have to overcome,” Vucic said.
