Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic responded to opposition MP Miroslav Aleksic’s claims of misconduct by Rio Tinto calling him an idiot.
Aleksic, leader of the opposition People’s Movement of Serbia, held a news conference in the lobby of parliament on Friday, detailing what he said was Rio Tinto’s misconduct in Guinea where it mined iron ore. He said the documents he presented could explain the mining company’s intentions in Serbia where it wants to mine lithium.
“He can’t even show Papua New Guinea on the map and I know it’s capital is Port Moresby. Imagine the idiot, he called a news conference,” Vucic said responding to Aleksic’s allegations.
Vucic’s close associate, Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic also spoke up, mentioning the wrong country like Vucic: “Miroslav Aleksic mentioned Guayana, sorry probably Guinea, at his news conference”.
