Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said “Serbia is fed up with those who have been terrorizing it for four months,” adding that efforts must be made to avoid violence while also standing up against those who “are destroying the country.”
“Serbia is boiling, it is literally boiling, but they don’t see it. Serbia is fed up with those who have been terrorizing it for four months. We must do everything we can to avoid violence, yet stand up to those who are tearing down and destroying our country,” Vucic said in a video message on Instagram from the headquarters of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).
He added that this is why he would soon call on people to peacefully and dignifiedly demonstrate that they want a “free Serbia,” that they want to “work,” and that they will not allow “lazy people to win over workers.”
“Rest assured, we will not lack courage or anything else, whether there are 1,000 or 2,000 of us. No one will be able to stop that seed of resistance and freedom from sprouting and growing. Serbia will win. Expect a call soon,” said Vucic.
The Serbian president claimed that “every baker, hairdresser, and hospitality worker is struggling due to problems that have been caused over the past four months.”
“Because people don’t know how to make ends meet for the first time in 10 years, because people increasingly can’t see where and how to achieve a better future for themselves and their children,” added Vucic.
