Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic voiced concern over statements by Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti on Friday.

Vucic said that he is especially concerned by Kurti’s statement that the Belgrade-backed Serb List party would suffer and pay, adding that it did not meet with condemnation. “Of course I am worried. Especially after the statements and direct threats by Albin Kurti but I can say that Serbia will not abandon its people in the north of Kosovo,” Vucic said.

He said that Thursday’s meeting of the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue made no progress because Kurti did not want it to. According to the Serbian President, Kurti does not want an agreement which would force him to form the Community of Serb Municipalities (CSM) before any informal recognition of Kosovo.

He claimed that European Union High Representative Josep Borrell blamed Kurti for the failure of the meeting but that Germans said that both sides are to blame.
