Vucic decides on state budget money alone, announces enormous amounts for Olympic medal winners
Instead of the Government making decisions about the state budget money, the President of Serbia, in a series of populist performances, announced on Sunday that he would motivate Serbian athletes with enormous amounts for winning the gold medal at the Olympic Games.
“We will have a special session where we will deal with the Olympics in Paris. We will provide additional money and additional incentives, where the gold medal will be worth 200,000 euros," said Vucic
Serbia already doubled the awards for medal winners for the last Olympics, so that in Tokyo the rule was 70,000 euros for a gold medal winner, 60,000 euros for a silver medal winner, and 50,000 euros for a bronze medal winner.
In this way, the award was doubled compared to the Olympic Games in London in 2012.
