Gendarme Milos Jevremovic was wounded in the neck by a man who fired a crossbow bolt at him. He returned fire killing the attacker who was later identified as a a member of the conservative Muslim wahabi.
A post on the president’s Instagram profile said that Jevremovic embodies the virtues expect of the people guarding the country. The Gendarme was presented the Order of Merit for Defense and Security 1st degree.
“We have to stop the promotion of violence and that is not an easy job. We will strengthen our security forces to make Serbia one of the safest countries in the world and in Europe,” the post said.
