Speaking in Seville at a development conference, he said the police acted “absolutely professionally”, adding that the reports of police violence were “lies and nonsense”. Police and Gendarmerie troopers in riot gear used force against protesters over the weekend in Belgrade and other places in Serbia.
According to Vucic, the state has enough power and added that the police are under huge pressure because “people are torturing them every day”. He said the state did its job and would do it every day and that the blockades would be ended with a minimum of force by the police. He said the police are trying not to injure the people opposed to what he called unrest. He confirmed a large number of arrests.
The Serbian President also accused Nova S and N1 TV of terrorism in their coverage of the protests.
