Vucic departs for Moscow

The Kremlin announced on May 7 that Vucic is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, May 9.

Before leaving for Moscow, Vucic met with Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko on Wednesday morning.

Serbian media have speculated in recent days that Latvia and Lithuania denied permission for Vucic’s flight to pass through their airspace en route to Moscow. It remains unclear which air corridor Vucic is using to reach the Russian capital, reported Sputnik.

On May 9, Russia marks the 80th anniversary of its victory over fascism in World War II with a military parade on Red Square and a series of commemorative events.

More than 20 world leaders are expected to attend.
