Vucic: Expect elections late this year

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Monday that elections could realistically be expected to take place sometime between October and December.

He told the pro-regime TV Blic that he won’t leave office early. “I won’t cut short my term in office, I will resign or not and that’s that,” he said.
Vucic said that he will discuss important issues with his ruling SNS’ coalition partners and the opposition because “dialogue resolves problems in normal countries”. “I will invite our coalition partners first because of some disagreements that exist,” he said, adding that he will call the parliamentary opposition to talks but is convinced they won’t respond.
“The opposition isn’t accepting a dialogue because they have no ideas and can’t win. They would have to explain a lot such as why they lied about the sound cannon,” he said referring to the reported use of a sonic weapon during a March 15 2025 mass protest in Belgrade.
