Vucic: I am satisfied with what I heard at UN SC session

The UN Security Council held Thursday in New York an urgent session to address the Pristina government’s decision to ban the use of the Serbian dinar in Kosovo.

The session was held at Serbia’s request and, in addition to Vucic, it was also attended by Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

“I am satisfied with what we could hear. Great Britain and Switzerland were the harshest against us, mostly taking Pristina’s side,” he said, adding that the position expressed by France was fair, and that those of Algeria, China, Russia, Ecuador, Sierra Leone, and Mozambique were exceptional.

Vucic said the most important thing is that Serbia used facts to speak about all that is happening in Kosovo.

“Of course, this will not solve the problems, we won’t be able to transport dinars there, but the people must know that we will fight for them, like we will always fight for the truth,” said the Serbian President.

He said it was very important that Serbia’s arguments were heard, because the session was open to public, adding that he is grateful the UN agreed to have the meeting and to it being open.

“However you look at it, this was a small but significant victory for Serbia,” stressed Vucic.

“We showed that we are ready to fight for our Serbia and not afraid of any consequences, we will fight for our people in Kosovo and Metohija and we will stand by them. They need not worry, there may be technical problems for a few days, but we will look after them. Serbia will never abandon its people in Kosovo and will never give up its country,” said Vucic. (Kosovo and Metohija is the official name for what the Serbian authorities consider to be the country’s southern province)
