Vucic: I have great worries, Serbia never in a more difficult situation

No one is threatening me personally as the Serbian President, they are openly threatening our entire country and its survival, said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, adding that he has “great worries because Serbia has never been in a more difficult situation.”

These days Belgrade is like Casablanca because “when guests from Russia are here, the ones from the Western services who follow them closely reveal themselves, the same is when people from the West are here, they are followed by those from the East,” said Vucic at a ceremony marking the Serbian Security Intelligence Agency (BIA) Day and its 20th anniversary.

BIA director Bratislav Gasic said the hybrid threats that Serbia has been particularly exposed to lately and which are taking on the features of hybrid warfare are increasingly noticeable, adding that these include a hyper-production of fake news useful for provoking divisions and tensions in the society.

We live in times when the Service’s activities are the most important, especially towards the external factor, said Vucic. This proves just how interested both sides are in this piece of land that we want to preserve for ourselves and our future generations, said the Serbian President.

Even if Serbia were to impose sanctions on Russia tomorrow, in five days’ time that would not be enough for it to be “on the right side of history because that history would say – give up Kosovo,” Vucic said.
