Vucic: I have no problem with Serbian ammunition ending up in Ukraine

“The buyers can do with it what they want,” Vucic told an interview with Cicero, a German monthly specializing in politics and culture, which has attracted considerable attention in Ukraine.

Ukrainska Pravda reported that Vucic noted Serbia’s Serbian ammunition depots are full of ammunition, with particularly large stocks of mortar shells.

He is quoted as saying that Serbia is prepared “to offer its friends in Europe everything Serbia has,” describing this as “phenomenal contribution to European security.”

Vucic said Serbia needs long-term contracts for effective forward planning, and that he has always maintained that Serbia is a neutral country, but that it is absolutely ready to cooperate with its European friends on military matters and that he is now awaiting responses from European countries to his proposal.

Official Moscow has reacted to this interview. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that Russia “understands what unprecedented pressure is being put on Serbia,” Russia Today (RT) reported.

Peskov described the issue of Serbian arms exports as “not at all a simple story.”

Earlier this year, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) said that Serbian defense firms had been increasing indirect arms shipments to Ukraine via EU member states such as the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.

The exact volume of Serbia’s arms exports remains unknown, as the Ministry of Trade has not released regular reports on arms exports for years.
