Vucic lashes out at reporter over question about bridge
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic lashed out at a reporter who asked him about the construction of a bridge without a tender.
The reporter asked why the construction of a bridge in the town of Petrovac na Mlavi was awarded to a state-affiliated company that had no bridge construction experience without a tender and Vucic responded saying he did not know which company did the construction work and denied that the contract was awarded to collect what the reporter called “black money” for an election campaign.
The president accused the owner of the reporter’s media outlet of “putting money into their own pockets their entire lives”. “I don’t know who did what but I need nothing for a campaign but the naked hatred you expressed means that you don’t understand that people have different dreams. My dreams are bridges and railroads not money in accounts because I don’t have those accounts,” he said.
Vucic also denied a Nova.rs story that he had to report to Russian Ambassador Alexander Bocan Harchenko a day earlier saying that the authors of the story were the ones reporting to ambassadors. He commented a Nova daily story which said that he is avoiding any mention of Belgrade city elections, saying that the opposition is undecided about those elections. “If they express their will and desire for elections clearly and if they say they want them, they will get them sooner than they thought and they will lose again even more convincingly than last time,” he said.
