Vucic: Most open meeting with Zelenskyy so far
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said Wednesday that he discussed with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy the two countries’ territorial integrity, the honoring of the UN Charter and other important topics and peace initiatives.
The Serbian President, who met Zelenskyy at the Ukraine-Southeast Europe summit in Tirana, told the Serbian state TV (RTS) that this was his most open talk with the Ukrainian President so far and that it addressed all the important topics.
Vucic said the Tirana summit participants respectfully listened to what Serbia had to say.
“I wish to tell the people in our country that, when they express views against Ukraine, I don't understand that. I understand our relations with Russia, I fail to understand the negative attitude towards Ukraine, because Ukraine has never done anything against Serbia,” said Vucic.
Following the meeting, Zelenskyy said in a post on the X social media platform that he thanked Serbia for supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for its humanitarian and financial assistance and welcoming Ukrainians who fled the war.
He added that he noted the importance of Serbia’s participation in the Peace Formula implementation.
“We coordinated further contacts with the aim of expanding global support for the Formula. I informed President Vucic about the current frontline situation. We also discussed security and political challenges in Eastern Europe,” wrote the Ukrainian President.
