Vucic not going to CoE summit in Rejkjavik

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday that he is not going to the Council of Europe (CoE) summit in Rejkjavik because Belgrade’s amendment to a resolution on territorial integrity was rejected.
“We submitted an amendment to say between two commas – when it speaks about the territorial integrity of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia – we asked to add “as well as all other CoE members” without mentioning the Republic of Serbia and then we realized that, especially at the insisting of Germany over the previous 48 hours, that territorial integrity exists for the countries that suit them and where it does not suit them, too bad for territorial integrity,” Vucic told a news conference.
He said that he took the decision for Serbia to be represented at the lowest level at the summit later this month. “I won’t go to Rejkjavik. Serbia won’t vote for their declaration (on the territorial legitimacy of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia),” he said adding that the vote won’t be unanimous.
“The principle is about Serbia, not Russia…. We are prepared to support the territorial integrity of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia but we are not prepared to easily give up on Serbia’s territorial integrity,” Vucic said.
“What will be remembered is that a small, freedom-loving country is the only state of international law and the UN Charter and that it’s president did not want to take part in their farces,” Vucic said.
