Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said Wednesday it was not true that he signed in Athens a document by which he agreed to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s arrest.

“I’ll read it to you now, the adopted version without any signatures – we agreed that there can be no impunity for war crimes and other atrocities, such as attacks against civilians, and all those responsible must be held accountable,” said Vucic at a media conference after the handing over of keys to 250 newly built apartments to refugee families from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He added that there is no mention of Russian President Vladimir Putin or Russia anywhere in the document.

“Who are you kidding? Aren’t you ashamed to say that? Where does it say Putin, where does it say Russia, would any sane person refuse to accept this. It says that those who killed civilians must be held accountable, imagine. What’s the problem? And where does it say Putin,” said the Serbian President.

Some institutions were mentioned but Serbia had that sentence dropped from the declaration, he added.

Serbian Foreign Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic said “a kind of a diplomatic victory” was achieved in Athens, adding that, “with his position,” Vucic "amended the initial text of the declaration" and a paragraph mentioning sanctions against Russia was dropped.

UN SC session soon

Asked by N1 whether and when he will seek a UN Security Council session on Kosovo, as he had said he would, Vucic said this will happen – soon.

“We will seek a session, especially over the latest events in Kosovo and Metohija, I will have a meeting about that today, we will request it because of the pressures, because of (Kosovo Prime Minister) Albin Kurti's continued provocations…We are choosing the right time, who presides and when, who will attend, but it will happen in the near future,” said Vucic.

“The pressures are constant, they ask me every day to impose sanctions on Russia, not a day has gone by without someone telling me that,” added the Serbian President.
