Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said he is “partly familiar” with the idea that “delights” him – for a large hotel and apartment complex to be built on the site of the former General Staff and Defense Ministry buildings in downtown Belgrade.

The President said he would promote this idea “with joy.”

Commenting on this project announced by former US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, Vucic said he “died laughing” at some media outlets’ comments that, by accepting Kushner’s idea, he was “gaining political influence” on Trump.

He said he was “very happy that we will solve a problem in central Belgrade. Belgrade needs to develop and (it needs) big investments,” that Finance Minister Sinisa Mali, who is “a serious and smart man,” had discussed.

When looking at the site of the bombed buildings, this idea “delights him,” said Vucic, adding that “a kind of a museum to the victims” will also be built there, because “we will not hide what had happened.”

The Serbian President said that “everything will be transparent.”
