Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic posted a video with the words We Are Not A Genocidal People and the coats of arms of Serbia and the Republika Srpska entity in Bosnia-Herzegovina on his Instagram profile.

The post, in Cyrillic, included the message – Proud Serbia and Republika Srpska.

The same words were put up on the Belgrade Waterfront tower.

Vucic’s message comes just a day before the UN General Assembly is scheduled to debate and vote on a resolution on Srebrenica which Serbian state officials have been claiming would label the entire Serbian nation as genocidal. The resolution would introduce a global day of remembrance of the war crimes committed by Bosnian Serb forces after they captured the Bosnian Muslim enclave of Srebrenica in the summer of 1995. The war crimes were ruled to be genocide by the Hague Tribunal.

The Serbian president is heading a state delegation to the UN General Assembly in New York. Foreign Minister Marko Djuric said the delegation is lobbying UN member states not to vote in favor of the resolution.
