Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday he expected Pristina authorities to try to take over the Valac power substation soon, under the pretext of charging for electricity in northern Kosovo with a majority of the Serb population.

The Valac substation is near Zvecan in Kosovo's north. Vucic has described it as the heart of Kosovo's power system, the key to Kosovo's energy stability and, therefore, Pristina's new energy stability target.

After the ceremony marking the beginning of the construction of the Belgrade part of the IWW Corridor Rhine-Danube, Vucic said he expected the overtake to happen after November 6, thus announcing another possible conflict in Kosovo's north.

"I said it was possible to happen from November 6, due to the attitude towards the operators there, looking for reasons in the alleged payment for electricity in the north. They will try to use it, I am almost certain, at some point to achieve political goals that have nothing to do with energy," he said.

Nenad Radosavljevic of the RTV Mir in the northern town of Leposavic has earlier said: "I know we didn't pay. It's true. But I know that Serbia did not pay Kosovo for us, nor did Kosovo pay for itself. It was presented as a loss."

Vucic added Priština would choose the moment, but that he begged the authorities not to do that.

He did not mention his sources for the overtaking and why Pristina would choose November 6 for the alleged operation.
