Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with Russian Ambassador to Belgrade Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko on Tuesday and requested consultations with “Russian friends” regarding the operations of the Serbian Oil Industry (NIS) and the need to “find a solution in the best interest” of both parties.
In a post on his Instagram account, Vucic wrote that he had a “good and open meeting” with Botsan-Kharchenko, during which they discussed the impact of US sanctions on Russian companies and their effects on NIS.
“In line with an intergovernmental agreement between Serbia and the Russian Federation, I requested from our Russian friends the initiation of consultations and the holding of numerous meetings to discuss the future functioning of NIS and to find the best solution in mutual interest, while preserving the partnership and friendly relations between Serbia and the Russian Federation,” Vucic wrote in the post.
He added that they also discussed other important bilateral issues of interest to Belgrade and Moscow.
